How do i get my guitar hero 3 wireless controller for ps2 to work?

Whenever i try to play with the controller, it seems to be working fine. However when I play a song, the fret buttons dont light up on the screen when i push them, and when i strum, it doesn't work either. About 1 out of every 20 notes that go by come out clean. I have already tried to put new batteries in. Also, the little box thing that i plug into the controller port, the light isn't always on. What should i do?How do i get my guitar hero 3 wireless controller for ps2 to work?
There's probably some dust in the port that is preventing a stable connection from being established. Try cleaning it out by using an air duster to blow the port clean, or if that doesn't work using a slightly damp corner of a cotton cloth (like a T-shirt) can be used to gently clean the connections. How do i get my guitar hero 3 wireless controller for ps2 to work?

Hello i know what to do. You are lucky for me to help you. What you do is that you put this little box into the controller area and then switch a little mover on it. Then put batteries in the guitar and then turn it on ad you should be running.

Take it back and get a new one. See if that works
