Why would a Wii controller not work when I hook up the system for the first time?

I had no problem with the system setup; however, when I inserted a game into the system, it doesn't recognize the controller. Why would a Wii controller not work when I hook up the system for the first time?
Did you hook up the controller before or after you plugged the system into the power? Try unplugging it and then plugging it back in.Why would a Wii controller not work when I hook up the system for the first time?
when my youngest son set up the wii the first time, he had never seen one set up. He plugged all the pieces into the television, and console right. However, the ';controller bar'; that reads the controller he sat up incorrectly. He had the bar itself lying down flat on its face on the telly. So the Wii couldn't see a signal.
You need to Sync the Wii-mote with the system. To do this, Open the front flap of the Wii and youw ill see a small red button labeled 'Sync'.

Keep that open and take the battery cover off of the Wii-mote. You will see the same button.

Press the one on the Wii, then press the one on the Wii-mote. They shoudl be synced. you will need to do this every time you bring a new Wii-mote to play with.

How does a Vtec Controller work and what is it used for?

ive heard of apexi or something but what are they for and how do they work? what about the price range on them? How does a Vtec Controller work and what is it used for?
Vtec is a valve timing control module that helps with power and fuel economy for Hondas, and Acuras, and some other cars now. Not sure on the price range of them though. How does a Vtec Controller work and what is it used for?
Yes, the Vtec controller is made by Apexi.

Basically the V-AFC controller is used for changing the Vtec engagement point. For example the stock Vtec change over point on a 00 Civic Si is 5300, but with the Vtec controller you can adjust the change over anywhere from 3000-6000 rpms.

Vtec controllers are also used for adjusting the air/fuel ratio across the entire rpm range of the engine.

The price range of these usually run about $300-350.

I would recommend only using one if your car has some more serious mods done to the engine...if you dont it is kind of worthless to buy because your paying more than $300 just to adjust the vtec change over point.
it pretty much does nothing...it's just a fancy label they put on their cars to make them seem better. the only thing it does is drain your gas mileage like crazy when it's engaged. doesn't provide for much more power though.
the apexi (s) go for around $300ish........

they are good. just dont get a knock off..

heres the Apexi info on the V-AFC 2

The highly anticipated release of the new A'PEX VAFC II started a new revolution in piggy-back style fuel controllers. Building upon the world wide success of the previous VAFC, the new VAFC II has taken the proven technology of the last VAFC to the next level. For optimal fuel control, the VAFC now allows for 12 point fuel manipulation in 100 RPM increments. The VAFC II also allows for the VTEC engagement point to be manipulated from 3000-7000 RPM, including the new i-VTEC systems. The redesigned case features a center push button with a rotating outer switch for easy and precise data input. To protect data maps from being tampered with, the new VAFC II features a password protection system.

Like the Super AFC II, the VAFC II displays data in three different modes: Numerical, analog, and graph. Numerical mode allows the user to monitor up to four different values in numerical format and also shows peak hold values on demand. The analog mode displays up to two values in an easy to read meter style display. Peak hold is included in analog mode as well. The graph mode offers real time graph plotting with a built in ghost map trace feature. The graph can relay movement up to 60 seconds.

New Features Include:

- New case design with center push button and rotating outer switch

- VTEC engagement control from 3000-7000 RPM in 100 RPM increments

- 12 point fuel control for LOW and HIGH VTEC maps (total of 24 points)

- i-VTEC compliant

- Monitor i-VTEC VVT movement in real time

- Password protection

- Red LED light indicated cam switchover point

- EEPROM chip for maximum data storage

- VTEC Match/Unmatch correction for smooth VTEC engagement modification

- Versatile mounting bracket

I believe you must be talking about the Apexi VAFC right? It stands for VTEC / Air Flow Controller. It is a electronic device which taps into the ECU to adjust the VTEC activation rpm %26amp; adjustment of the intake air pressure or volume depending on the type of intake air sensor your car is using.(Vacuum sensor or air flow sensor)

I believe if you drive a Honda, you should know that the mechanism of VTEC is based on a secondary wild profile cam lobe which activates via a solenoid valve when the engine revs up to certain rpm. Most VTEC activation point in a stock DOHC VTEC Honda engine is around 5000 to 5500 rpm. Most tuners such as Spoon %26amp; Hondata believes that actually the optimum VTEC activation point is around 4500 rpm to improve acceleration.

To achieve greater power output, besides adjustment of the VTEC activation point, adjustment of the air/fuel ratio %26amp; ignition timing is also required because the setting of the stock ECU is meant to maximise engine lifespan but sadly,it also minimise engine power output.

Where can I get a new green xbox 360 controller, or a special green halo controller?

Im looking for just a green controller. Either the new neon green one or a green one that comes with the halo xbox 360. Just the controller. Anyone know where to get one besides ebay?Where can I get a new green xbox 360 controller, or a special green halo controller?
Ebay is the only place I can think of.Where can I get a new green xbox 360 controller, or a special green halo controller?
yeah, youll have to get it used..the green one is only available with the halo edition xbox, but someone might have traded one in at gamestop (as others have suggested) or some other local gaming store.
Check the link below. Looks as if they may have the specific controllers you are looking for.

  • What are the skills you need to become an air traffic controller?

What is the number one skill/quality someone should have? What are the skills you need to become an air traffic controller?
    From the FAA's website:

What it takes to be an Air Traffic Control Specialist

These are characteristics of the exceptional men and women who provide the safe and orderly flow of air traffic at airports and in our skies:

    * Disciplined

    * Tough-minded

    * Meticulous

    * DrivenWhat are the skills you need to become an air traffic controller?
    multitasking ability.

    clear, consice communication skills.

    ability to prioritise

    calm under pressure
all of the above plus a degree in ATC, but most of all multitasking.
I've been training to become a Pilot for a while and the Instructors have so much confedince in them they keep there life safe or end it

not to discourage you but it takes responcibility
I've been an Air Traffic Controller for 17 years. I love my job but it is not for everyone. You do not need a college degree, but it is becoming more important in the FAA's recent hiring. You must become employed before your 31st birthday and mandatory retirement is 56.

The person who wrote multi-tasking and staying calm is very correct. However the first hurdle is actually getting hired. From there everything is on the job training. Approximately 60% actually make it thru training.

Check out the National Air Traffic Controllers Association website for more info. Good Luck!!

    http://www.natca.org/default.aspx
first you need to learn to talk the lingo such as pilot to the navigator,,come in navigator,,,are you there,,,and well clear your site to runway 3 and hairyup and land cause theres a 747 coming up behind you mitey fast

Why does my PS2 dvd remote only work like a regular controller?

It has all the buttons like say a normal dvd remote, menu, fwd, pause. But none of these buttons work, I have to use X to enter and R3 to skip chapters. Is there some way to make these work? Why does my PS2 dvd remote only work like a regular controller?
Did you install the playstation dvd drivers that came on the cd that came with it?

You need to install those and they take up 2.1 mb on your memory card if i remember correctly.

What is the best controller for computers to play sport games?

I want to play fifa 08 on my computer but i hate using keyboard and mouse. so what is the best controler for the computer, keep in mind i use a PS2 so i am used to that computer. The computer must have good analoge sticks and pressure buttons, would be great if it wasnt so pricey either. What is the best controller for computers to play sport games?
If you look around I'm sure you could find a PC controller designed exactly like a PS2 controller. You could also buy a PS3 controller since it has a USB connection. Although I'm not sure if it would work. I have heard of people using Xbox 360 controllers though. They're not too different. What is the best controller for computers to play sport games?

How do you use one of those new wii controllers that looks like a ps2 controller?

I would say your talking about this controller http://www.game-addicts.com/wp-content/u鈥?/a>

It should have came with a separate piece that you open the top hatch on the Wii console and plug into the controller ports that wired gamecube controllers plug into. How do you use one of those new wii controllers that looks like a ps2 controller?

    Is this it?

What is the difference between the Wii Remote and wireless controller?

I am looking to buy a packaged deal for either the two controllers, or the entire wii console with the two controllers.... anyhow not sure which way it will be cheapest to purchase, but seeing this wireless remote, and I'm not sure what that is.What is the difference between the Wii Remote and wireless controller?
a Wii Remote *is* a wireless controller. unless it very specifically says ';wireless CLASSIC controller'; or ';wireless GAMECUBE controller';, it almost certainly means a normal Wii remote (or wiimote for short)What is the difference between the Wii Remote and wireless controller?
Since you are just getting started with the Wii you might want to check out http://www.musictomyears.com/iluvmywii.h鈥?/a> as it is a great beginners guide to the Wii with descriptions of the different controllers, games %26amp; accessories.

What's great about the Wii is that you can just get started with the Wii console %26amp; Wii Remote %26amp; Nunchuk. As you play more %26amp; more with the Wii you will probably want to explore other games %26amp; accessories (there are a lot of options %26amp; that website I mentioned has lots of information about them).

If you are going to purchase Wii Nunchuks (if you are right handed you hold the Wii Remote in your right hand %26amp; the Nunchuk in your left hand to place certain games such as Wii Ski or boxing games, etc) you might want to consider purchasing a wireless Wii Nunchuk as the normal Wii Nunchuk attaches to the Wii Remote with a wire %26amp; when you are doing a very physical game such as skiing or cheerleading you might smack yourself with the wire.

    Have fun!
The wireless remote was made by Nintendo for motion sensing. It's a remote because the Wii has ';Channels'; and this is the best design they could come up with to do different things. For example, you can swing it like a bat and you can turn it like a steering wheel. You can buy a Classic Controller or Gamecube controller, if you do not like the Wii Remote, as these are compatible with most games.
I may be wrong on this but the Wii Remote is the remote like device that all Wiis come with. The one with the motion sensor in it.

The wireless controller maybe the one that looks like a classic controller like what the Xbox 360 %26amp; PlayStation 3 use.
the Wii comes with wireless remotes. thats how its made.

An Enroute controller may have dozens. However the computer system alerts him/her of any potential traffic conflicts well in advance of them actually happening. There is a predictive portion of the software that moves aircraft positions out and ensures that no aircraft will come within 5nm of each other laterally.

On approach (which is handled by the appropriately named ';approach controller';) spacing may be a little as 2.5 nm, but only if aircraft are able to visually able to separate themselves from each other. This is done by the use of the phrase ';traffic in sight'; from the pilots. If the pilots do not have the preceding traffic in sight, they may not use the tighter spacing.

Comair: Those rules do exist. Air traffic controllers have duty regulations that are very similar to pilots'

Stuttgart: Just so you know, I'm only answering this to get my 2 points, and maybe to get a few thumb's ups from other participants on this site. You have spent weeks looking for something in the aviation system that is fatally flawed and picked apart every system you have thought of. The system is certainly not perfect, but there are no quick and easy fixes. No magic spell if suddenly going to eliminate 100% of the risk of flying. Thats a fact all of us that work in the industry have come to terms with years ago. Did you know you are not approximately as likely to die in an air accident in the US as you are to be struck by a meteor? Maybe we should all carry iron umbrellas now just to be safe. What qualifications do you need to be become a credit controller?

At the moment i am a care support worker and it just isnt really me. there seem to be a few jobs around in credit control and i fancied trying out for one. Credit Control is not for everyone but good customer service is a must. Much of it depends on the individual and how you approach the job. I ';fell'; into doing this for a small company and found it much to my advantage to introduce myself to my counterpart. In this way a bridge was built between the two companies. They also soon got to know that my word was my bond and this makes for good PR as well as good business. I never made promises but always said I would do my best and return their call with the answer.

Companies vary too when it comes to anything to do with finance. You will come up against those people who say ';there's a cheque in the post'; when you know full well there isn't. Or you may get ';I will look into it and call you back'; but never do.

If you can polish up your IT skills this is very advantageous because you will need to be able to send a Remittance Advice with either your cheque or BGC (Bank Giro Credit) via BACs system if there is one in place that is if the Company accounts are on the computer.

Being able to communicate verbally is vitally important too and since you already have good customer service skills, this is a bonus.

It may be to your advantage to go on an Accounts Course because this is just as important. Sage accounting is an excellent package and many companies have this system already in place. Find out more from your local Colleges to see what they do.

  • What training would I need to become an air traffic controller?

I was just curious what the qualification and training involved is for air traffic controllers. I always thought it would be an awesome job. I do have a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics and I'm working on Master's right now and will finish in May of '08. I know it's a stressful job, I was just wondering what training is needed. How could I find more information on this profession? What training would I need to become an air traffic controller?
Bluntly math doesn't matter. The only math you need to know is that an airplane moving at 60 miles per hour moves one miles per minute...an airplane at 120 miles per hour moves 2 miles in a minute and so on. I can divide by 60, therefore my math is good enough... You have 3 options.

You have to either a) get hired ';off the street'; b) do ATC in the military or c) go to a CTI (controller training initiative) school.

Getting hired off the street you take the test called the AT-SAT. Its pretty much can you do basic math, read dials and how do you function playing what amounts to a video game. Passing the interview and the AT-SAT via the off the street route doesn't get you anywhere. They then take the succeful people and pick a number at random, if your social security number ends in that number you're in, if not, tough luck. The OTS route is a tough road to hoe, 75% of those that go that way and pass the interview fail out and get fired at some point. With the application process that means less that 2.5% of potential controllers actually make it.

I'd suggest either A) getting real world training in the military or B) going to a CTI school. The military, well thats obvious, talk to a recruiter. If you get the MOS you apply for, you'll be set for ATC once you get out. There are 13 CTI schools. They are all normal colleges and universities that the FAA has said, ';We like what you do in training, keep it up and we'll snap up your grads.'; Major in ATC at one and the FAA will hire you. In your position if you went the CTI route, get a simple associates degree. Take you one easy year and you're set. Jobs are set to seriously open up, the FAA is way behind the hiring curve and yes it is because of the PATCO firings in the 80's am ong other things. Do the OTS route, do the military, do CTI, doesn't matter (though I'd suggest the latter two). Just know the military and CTI ways will give you a serious advantage to getting through all the hurdles you'll face. I'm going through CTI aftter getting over 350 hours in flight time in my log book and a degree. I can't imagine getting thrown to the wolves doing the off the street thing. Even with what I have it still isn't easy. Just whatever option make sure you are out of the service / graduate / get through the AT-SAT and interview before you are 31. By that time you're too old to start.

I'm not slighting the OTS people, kudos to anyone who can hack OK City in 7 weeks. My dad was Navy ATC and took a 16 week course and is stunned they compress it to 7 nowadays in the civilian world. Me I'm amazed they pressed military controllers in a mere 16 weeks. I have more formal training in math than the rest of my class having plowed through Trig and Calc for my first degree. Doesn't make you a better controller. That said the discipline to bust it and get a MS will seriously help you.

Awesome? Yes. You play what amounts to a video game all day. The downside is there are lives on the line if you mess up. One big screw up makes a serial killer seem tame in comparison to your one mistake.

The challenge is can you keep from messing your pants while blips shoot by at unreal speeds, no pause button, no time outs, just you and your brain in real time? Doesn't take a smart person. Just the right kind of person.

Best of luck to you. What training would I need to become an air traffic controller?
Ideally you should have experience as an aircraft pilot.
Your degree helps you stand out on a aplication, but it is simple. Go to your nearest book store, purchuse an air traffic control book that has practice tests inside it and it will also have phonenumbers to find the nearest test sight close to you. This job field is in high demand because alot of these workers have or will be retiring. My husband bought the book, took the test, past with high scores, but he was too old,(32)there is an age limit upon hirring.I was so dissapionted .because you can make alot of money in this career. No degree or millitary experience needed.
ATC jobs have an age limitation, you must be below the age of 31 when you are called for an interview. To the best of my knowledge, there are two ways to get hired. One route is the military and the other is a college ATC-CTI program. Since an ATC job is hard to get it is not offered as an degree.

    * Achieve a qualifying score on the current FAA testing procedures

    * Meet entry-level air traffic control specialist (ATCS) medical standards

    * Pass pre-employment drug test

    * Pass the background investigation for security and suitability

    * Have U.S. citizenship

    * May not have reached their 31st birthday prior to initial appointment

    * Complete course work including all ATC-CTI-specific courses

    * Be able to read, write, and understand the English language and speak it rapidly without accent or impediment of speech

    * Successfully complete the FAA interview process

    * Receive Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology' recommendation based on grades and attendance

    Good luck in you endeavour

EDIT: As the guy all the way at the bottom said. To be an ATC or a pilot you don't have to be a mathematician, highschool math will suffice. There are some advance ATC simulation programs for the PC out there. Why don't you go check them out and play around with them. Make no mistake, they are not ';videogames'; Let me also recomend the FARAIM (Federal Aviation Regulations Aeronautical Information Manual) Its roughly a thousand pages and the AIM has all the info you will need to get familiar with. (get the latest version) Believe it or not, all your course material will come from it. It's the FAA bible for Pilots/Controllers

I don't own a Wii, but am thinking about buying one or christmas. Why are there two different types of controllers? I'm confused. What's the difference between a Wii remote controller and Wii nunchuck controller?
The Wii controller is well, the controller you usually use. The nunchuck is the little thing with the analog stick that you connect to the controller. It's usually used to move your character around and stuff. You don't have to use the nunchuck in every game by the way.

How hard is it to transfer as an Air Traffic Controller after being certified at your first tower?

Im hopefully about to go into training at the Oklahoma City facility and will have to report to Louisiana shortly after. I want to eventually transfer back to NY after I complete my on-the-job training. Is it a difficult thing to do?How hard is it to transfer as an Air Traffic Controller after being certified at your first tower?
Not really. It depends on how hard up for staffing your facility is and how long it takes them to typically train a new person. I mean if it takes years to certifiy and everyone is working OT just to keep the show running and you want a transfer to an overstaffed facility in NY the day after you get your CTO, it won't happen.

Just certify, spend a few months to a year in Louisiana past that then start internally applying for a transfer. Shouldn't be too difficult.

I don't think many places in LA are as in need as facilities in NY, so it should be easy.

How do I fix buttons that get stuck on a controller?

In particular, an xbox controller. The green A button has been sticking and its messing up my gameplay. How do I fix buttons that get stuck on a controller?
the controller holds together with small Philips screws underneath , set yourself on a clean table and take it apart, you will see a rubber like silicone contact, clean it with warm water, and mild soap, dry it with a hair drier on warm setting, reassemble, if you don t want to take it appart, put it in the dishwasher, put the dishwasher on normal setting, don t worry you won t damage the controller, i ve done hundreds of computer keyboards like that , worked every time, after its all done cleaning, let it do it drying cycle, then take it out, set the hairdryer next to the controller on warm , not hot, and let it dry for at least 30 minutes.

What does the typical work day of a Air traffic controller entail?

As an Air Traffic Controller (18 years)... the common answer to that is 'hours of boredom interrupted by moments of sheer terror';....LOL, that's a joke..... well...sometimes it's true.

There are a variety of tasks involved in ATC and they vary from where you work (a tower, approach control, a center).

Our main job is the safe and expeditious movement of aircraft.

Yes, it has stressful moments, but overall most controllers love their job.

It mostly on the job training although there are a few schools now offering degrees and most have a program with the FAA for hiring.

Unfortunately the US govt is cutting back on air traffic services, they are also slashing new controllers pay [ so if you're thinking about it as a job, you won't get paid even close to what someone with 6 or more years in has.]

If you live near an airport most towers ( depending on security levels at the time), will give you a tour if you make an appointment.

For more info check out our website:National Air Traffic Controller Association www.natca.orgWhat does the typical work day of a Air traffic controller entail?
knowing how to play high stakes chicken with other peoples lives. What does the typical work day of a Air traffic controller entail?
    lots of tums and alcohol
watching a screen to make sure that the dots dont touch...

haha... but in reality, their work is very complex and vaires alot based on where they work... you should do some more independent research or ask more specific queisons...
well, at the airport I work at, The tower guy stays the same, but ground, approach, and departure switch throughout the day to keep from getting bored. If your Ground, or tower, you stare outside all day, and keep your mind in the game, by not screwing around. On a busy day you wont have time to do anything, you key the mic, and talk to one aircraft, while the next is calling in. If your approach/departure, you sit in a dark room, and look at a radar screen. Its a very complex job, and there are sometimes when you just sit there, and do nothing. But that is usually broke up by all out pandimonium.
drinking tea, the times cross-word and flicking elastic bands. Apart from that they stare at a screen and make sure that 2 little dots dont merge into one otherwise they might be looking for alternative employment. Sorry for the stupid answer, its been a very long day and I'm quite bored so someone had to give me 2 points. Thanks for them by the way.

How can I control any given electric motor with a controller?

Like with an Xbox 360 controller, or the like. I know this is sort of ambitious, but any help at all would be great. How can I control any given electric motor with a controller?
Basically, you wire a speed controller in series with the motor then use the computer to control the speed controller.

Just what controller you will need will depend on the motor characteristics.

    %26lt;%26gt;http://homepages.which.net/~paul.hills/S鈥?/a>

There is a lot to this and it might be wise to do some study (a lot) before commencing. How can I control any given electric motor with a controller?
I used an analog module ( current and voltage output) along with a controller:

For DC motor : 1V to 5 V output, It controls the motor from 0% to 100%.

For VFD motor, 4mA to 20mA output, It will control the motor also from 0% to 100%.

What's the difference between a sequencer and a controller?

Saw a street musician w/a keyboard that had recorded different background tracks of different instruments that he sang along with, essentially a one man band. He also had a playlist on a disk of a variety of songs. What type of keyboard does this require? Thanks. What's the difference between a sequencer and a controller?
A sequencer records and plays back MIDI data. This may be as simple as recording a song that can be replayed at the touch of a button (just like a piano roll does for a player piano), or may be as complex as recording a complicated arrangement made up of multiple parts, complete with all of the subtle changes throughout, and saving it for playback later. Most sequencers also allow editing of the sequence, giving the user word processor-like editing capabilities for their music.

A controller is a device with piano, organ, or synth-style keys, and usually a selection of knobs, buttons, and sliders. All of these transmit MIDI data to external sound modules (synthesizers), computer software synthesizers, or a hardware or software sequencer. Most keyboard controllers themselves have no internal sound-generating capability, but almost any keyboard synthesizer/workstation can act to control the sounds and parameters of other devices.

  • What is the requirements to be a Air Traffic Controller.?

    Hi,

I am obsessed with airplanes and I would really like to do something at an airport like Vancouver International or some other busy airport.

I would just want to know the requirements for being an Air Traffic Controller, I'm not saying that I will be, but I'm just wanting to know these kind of stuff.

    So please answer this.

Thank you. What is the requirements to be a Air Traffic Controller.?
In the U.S. there are requirements; my pilot experience, which

includes the instrument rating, helped me to start at a higher

level. You must meet the basic requirements which you can

find at the websites mentioned above; if you meet them you

make application and must pass a preliminary written test.

If you pass it you are put on the list of eligible candidates and

you must also pass a physical exam. When you are called to

begin duty at a facility, you will undergo very difficult training

both at the facility and the FAA Academy in Oklahoma City.

Once you pass the training, you will receive on-the-job (OJT)

training at your home facility, along with step upgrades till

you achieve the full performance level (FPL) certification.

The training is tough, I won't lie to you; but once you make

the grade, the job security %26amp; satisfaction can be very good.

Good luck!! Keep them flying! What is the requirements to be a Air Traffic Controller.?
    Are there any requirements?

Okay, its a joke... I know there are requirements.

    Check out this link:

    http://www.faa.gov/about/office_org/head鈥?/a>
Go to the FAA website and there you will find the necessary qualification guidelines to becoming an ATC controller

    http://www.faa.gov
Obviously the FAA does not regulate anything in CANADA!!

Currently NavCanada is actively recruiting ATC personnel.

all of you questions should be answered on the following site:

    http://www.navcanada.ca/NavCanada.asp?La鈥?/a>

Good luck, Air Traffic Control is an admirable profession!
Cherokee is right. Go to NavCanada as a Canadian. Some people don't read the whole question before answering. I hear you go through a pretty intense academy there. I read a Canadian ATCers blog through training once. As I understand the better you do on your initial aptitude test the larger facility you go to.

Where and How Does a Student Become Aircraft Traffic Controller?

My nephew has asked me to research his interest in becoming an aircraft controller. I have never heard of this field being a major in colleges or universities, so I would imagine classes would be connected to major airports. If you are an aircraft controller or you know someone who is, could you offer any advice on how to get into the field.

I do know that controllers have to have sharp memories, make flash decisions, be cool under pressure and work with other busy controllers and high tech equipment.

How much do beginning controllers make per year, how long is the training, is it a hard profession to get hired into, and is there any open positions when training is completed?

Thanks for any and all advice about the profession of aircraft traffic controllersWhere and How Does a Student Become Aircraft Traffic Controller?
There are traffic management courses for civil engineers at many universities that may provide courses but the two places I can think of off hand where I know there are specific training programs are universities like Embry Riddle Aeronautics and the US Air Force Academy.

    http://www.erau.edu/db/degrees/b-airtraf鈥?/a>

I suggest that you Google Air Traffic Control schools and Air Traffic Management schools

In answer to the other parts of your question, yes there are many openings in this profession, in fact there is something of an anticipated shortage as a significant percentage of the current controllers are about to come up for retirement over the next few years.

I believe the job is federal pay scale so the pay grade is G-level and I do not know off hand what level it is to start but it is mid level as I remember and with full government benefits. Though according to the career info on Wiki the pay scale was just reduced in 2006 to the same as it was 25 years ago and is not as attractive as it was.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_traffic鈥?/a>

It is a demanding and important profession but not too hard for a committed person to get into and your son is eligible to be hired directly upon graduating from an accredited program.

That Wiki article claims there are 14 accredited programs around the nation.Where and How Does a Student Become Aircraft Traffic Controller?
The University of North Dakota for one has an excellent ATC training major... with tons of great equiptment... They have direct ties to the FAA and given the current controller shortage, if you graduate, you have a job... basically...
Tell him to wait a few years. They are starting to hire Civi's as controllers. Go work for a local charter company and gain experience.
    http://www.natca.org/

Go to this site first. It is the only site where you will get the truth about Air Traffic Control. Currently I would not reccomend being an ATC. The FAA is treating controllers very harshly right now.
if you live in Canada contact Nav Canada for information about becoming an ATC.

The job is really not like it is in the movies and most of the high tech stuff the average ATC uses is a computer screen the engeneering staff are the ones who actually work with the high tech equipment. The job is highly regimented with procedures HOWEVER when all heck breaks loose that is when the level headedness comes in.
I am a developmental controller who was hired one year ago today.

Your nephew can join the military and hope he can get into ATC at a military base or he can go a CTI school. Only some schools have approved circulum to teach ATC. After that he has to pass the AT-SAT which measures his appitudes for the job (he must pass with a 70% for qualified and 85% for well qualified.) Once he has completed the test, his school must recommend him to the FAA. Your nephew is placed in a list and the FAA then contacts him with paperwork for his background check, 2nd class physical, and psycologcial exam. Once he has been excepted into the FAA, he will continue his education at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City. Depending on which facility he will go to, he will spend 1 1/2 or 3 months before he will be sent out to his facility, provided that he passes the academy.

A lot of controllers are retiring right now due to reaching minimum retirement age. A lot of people are being offered employment, but are turning the offers down. A couple of pointers, the FAA is only paying $8.82 an hour, including locality pay, for all students at the academy. This is about $1000 per month after taxes for any single person. Not very much considering that apartments approved by the FAA charge $30 a day. New controllers are considered ';temporary employees'; and so do not receive any per deim pay. Upon completion, he will get payed $31,700, not including locality pay (add an average 12-15%.) All ATCS are no longer on the GS scales.

FAA pay is a very sore subject to me right now, as you no doubt have noticed. Especially considering that the Department of Defense pays their controllers upwards of $60,000 for new controllers. Also some Contract towers pay more as well. Note: contract towers are rated at level 1 - 4 in terms of traffic volume. The FAA operates facilities of 4 - 12.

Really the only way to be sure is to start it with the controller you want to be number 1. At least if I start with my wireless, my wired controller is number 1, and if I start with wired, it is number 1. Any past that are going to be pretty random if wired, but you can control it by the order you connect them (connecting the wire or turning on a wireless controller). If you are turning it on with a controller and your guitar is still getting number 1, I haven't seen it work that way before, but the only solution would be to disconnect the guitar and reconnect it after powering on.

There's probably some dust in the port that is preventing a stable connection from being established. Try cleaning it out by using an air duster to blow the port clean, or if that doesn't work using a slightly damp corner of a cotton cloth (like a T-shirt) can be used to gently clean the connections. How do i get my guitar hero 3 wireless controller for ps2 to work?

Hello i know what to do. You are lucky for me to help you. What you do is that you put this little box into the controller area and then switch a little mover on it. Then put batteries in the guitar and then turn it on ad you should be running.

  • How to control led system on RC car with controller?

I have a Tamiya TT-01 RC car. I am planning to install a LED system on it (headlights and taillights) and I would like to control it remotely to be able to turn them on and off. I have a 3 ch. Airtronics system, how would I hook the LED system up to the channel 3 on the receiver so that I can control it with the switch on the controller? Thanks. How to control led system on RC car with controller?
Apparently CM needs to do some research before he answers. An Emaxx only has three channels not four and the Losi Desert truck only has two. You do say you are using a 3 channel radio, so.... simply setup a third servo somewhere to push and turn on a pushbutton switch that will turn on the lights. Easy enough to do. Plug it into the third channel slot on the receiver, and use the third channel switch on the radio to activate it. You can email if you need more help. How to control led system on RC car with controller?
Look for the word ';Battery'; on the reciever... oh, I see!

You cannot do this because of the type of radio system your using. I have no experience with LED lights, but I am dead sure that your better off getting a stock remote/reciever than anything else in 3-channel.

Uh, ok... take the E-Maxx or Losi Desert truck (Completely) stock for example. They both have 3-channels in there reciever... (E-Maxx has 4 because of dual servos) remotes and are able to do this... I would find a local hobby shop near you and ask them. They can help you out.

What is the functions and responsibilities for position Document Controller?

Can u describe what's it all about? What is the suitable expected monthly salary in Ringgit Malaysia (RM) for that post? What is the functions and responsibilities for position Document Controller?
Document Controller has a defined role under QA (Quality Assurance) systems. Responsibility is to track all documents (and that may well include drawings, calculations etc.) on an engineering project. Duties therefore are to ensure that documents have all the correct signatures showing that they have been checked, that they are then issued to the appropriate person at the client organization, that a register is kept showing what documents have been issued and at which revision, that copies of them are filed for reference, that they are eventually archived for the required period (many years!).

Incoming documents from the client or others also have to be registered and filed.

It's a job that demands a capacity for attention to detail, I may add.

As for salary is RM, I haven't the slightest idea.

How do I become an air traffic controller?

I've been a CFII for 10 years, but I want to transition to becoming an air traffic controller. How and where do I begin? I've gotten conflicting information, and I'd just like to know where to find the answers I need, or see if anyone here knows. I never finished my college degree, and at 30 years old, I haven't the time or resources for that. Is it an absolute, set-in-stone requirement? Would my flight time and experience transfer to college credits? How do I become an air traffic controller?
Well, For the FAA you're probably going to be out of luck. Your 31st birthday is the cutoff to be hired and the process from start to your job offer is 8 months if you are extremely, extremely lucky. Add that to this being the end of the fiscal year and the FAAs budget being a ';continuing resolution'; at this point, I don't see it being a possibility.

If you want to still do ATC there are several contractors out there that take over small VFR FAA towers, Serco and midwest ATC come to mind, and to be honest they pay pretty nicely. They require a CTO, control tower operators certificate, which can be gotten through the military OR through the Community College of Beaver County's ATC program terminal option. I believe there is a community college in GA that offers a program also that gives you a full CTO also, but I can't swear to it.

Now if you just turned 30, go here http://www.faa.gov/about/office_org/head鈥?/a> and follow the directions.

After your submit your application, call a tower (no matter how small, you HAVE to get your foot in the door at your age) you fly out of regularly and ask to talk to the manager. Woo them with how familiar you are with the area and beg them to tell the hub supervisor to pick you up on the next bid. Keep calling and bugging everyone and anyone who can help your cause.

If you need any help message me, but if you're 30 and a half, you're too late sorry to say.

20 years ago, my friend and I took the ATC exam together at the federal building, downtown. He got a 98 and was called within 3 months. He went to Oklahoma City to train and now he is a ATC Trainer making pretty good money. Times have changed though and I think the process is different.

BTW: Age 31 is the cutoff for ATC applicants.

    Good luck.
Cutoff age is 30 your too old sorry hon to get your FAA cert

How to Enroll at an Air Traffic Control School

    Step 1:

Find a school with an aviation technology major. There are 14 schools in the United States that support the Federal Aviation Administration's College Training Institute Initiative. These schools are usually preferred if you want to work for the government.

    Step 2:

Make sure you have the grades in high school to attend one of these schools. The curriculum will be tough, and it takes dedication.

    Step 3:

Select a school that has a job placement opportunity with the FAA. All 14 Air Traffic Collegiate Training Initiative schools have a placement program. If you chose another school with an aviation technology degree, check with your advisor or the head of the department to see how you can maximize your job opportunities.

    Step 4:

Choose a school close to an airport, so you can land a summer internship to practice your craft and gain valuable experience.

    Tips %26amp; Warnings

*After your 4-year education, you will be required to pass an FAA aptitude test and then complete 12 to 15 more weeks of FAA training.

*Air traffic controllers are in demand and can make upwards of $95,000 a year.

*Choose a school with an air traffic control simulation lab for hands-on learning.

*Be prepared for possible high stress levels. As an air traffic control officer, you are responsible for the lives aboard every time a plane takes off or lands.

*You must be a US citizen and less than 30 years old at the time of hiring by the FAA to be an air traffic control officer.

How do you get a playstation 2 controller to work for emulators on a PC?

I got a few emulators and games, but the turning sensitivity of using my keyboard is way too high it's hard to play with. So I would like to use a ps2 controller (or any controller)for them. Plug-ins maybe? How do you get a playstation 2 controller to work for emulators on a PC?

How do I fix my Xbox 360 controller disconnecting during game?

I just put in some new Energizer batteries like a week ago and my controller has the weird habit of disconnecting during gameplay. It never does that while im in the Dashboard. How can I fix this? How do I fix my Xbox 360 controller disconnecting during game?
Yea its definitely your batteries. this used to happen to me too, i would buy new batteries and it would still turn off while i played (normally when i got shot lol) What i did is just go buy one of those Rechargeable batteries made for the controller. it comes with a wire that plugs into the controller so it shouldn't ever turn off because of the crappy power supply.

This should definitley fix your problem, good luckHow do I fix my Xbox 360 controller disconnecting during game?
The controller sucks up batteries badly. If it doesn't disconnect on the dashboard then it is the batteries.

    http://getanxbox360forfree.blogspot.com/
Yes, Its the batteries mine did that last week...

All I did was goto walmart and get a recharable battery: charging station.

And a pack of recharagable batteries :)

    This WILL work.
i have had this happen to me, sometimes the batterie pack is loose so put some tape on the batterie pack to keep it tight it works great for me
The best battery is the rechargeable battery for Xbox remotes,

They work much better than disposibles.

What would you recommend for a gaming controller for my computer?

I recently bought an alienware computer set up and am not very good at using the keyboard to game with. What would you recommend for a gaming controller? I love alienware, do they make controllers? Any help would be great. What would you recommend for a gaming controller for my computer?
Alienware does not make the controller themselves. The highest ranking usually is Logitech. I myself have a Logitech Dual Action Controller and it works great! You can go to the Alienware website and look at Gaming Controllers that they sell on their website. Here is a list of the ones I consider the best.

Unfortunatly, controllers are NOT supported in COD4 PC. However, programs like joytokey (http://www.electracode.com/4/joy2key/JoyToKey%20English%20Version.htm will allow you to map buttons on the controller to keyboard controls. It may be hard, but if you google joytokey or joytokey COD4 you might get some help. good luck.

EDIT: There is also a program called XPADDER that works decent for controller keyboard mapping. (However, i havn't tried it)

Install this and plug the 360 controller into your USB slot (typically there's one on the front of your tower, or one in the back.) Wireless controllers require a receiver bought seperately.

I use the remote and nunchuck combo. The classic controller and the GameCube controller are good as well, but I like to move my hands seperately when playing. Shaking the remote to do tricks is also a bit easier because you don't have to move your thumb from your analog stick.
I use the wii wheel, even though its a little bit more difficult its more fun plus you use the wiis features
I use the nunchuck wiimote combo I find its much easier to do wheelies. I agree with you it is much easier to control that the wheel.

Well to be wireless the controller must have some way of connecting to the Console , so for the Gamecube , you will want to look at the top of the Console there should be a ';Small Plastic Door';at the top where you put the connecters for the controller , I Don't remember but if it has to go in the memory slot on the Gamecube than there should still be a input on the Wii for it.

Why do my Sega Genesis controllers only work in the 2nd controller port?

I've had my Sega Genesis for about 12 years and it still works but for some reason my controllers stopped working only when they were in the 1st controller port. Now they only work in the 2nd controller port. Can someone please tell me how to fix this? Why do my Sega Genesis controllers only work in the 2nd controller port?
Remember friend, the first SEGA genesis consoles were mass produced in 1989. Thats 20 years ago dude, and those consoles were known to be relatively unreliable anyways.

I'm sure there was a simple circuit malfunction in the 1st port due to excessive playtime.

(Bear in mind, excessive game time for the SEGA was about 1-2 hours.)

You can always buy a new controller for like ten dollars on eBay and test new methods to fix the port.

Personally if I were you, i'd save the Genesis for about another fifty years, when it's price should theoretically skyrocket, due to the advancements in gaming so far.

Make sure you regularly dust the thing and perform simple maintenance annually.

Leaving it on top a shelf or a corner will nullify my suggestion.

Good luck! Why do my Sega Genesis controllers only work in the 2nd controller port?
The older the console, the better odds there are that hardware will malfunction. More than likely since the second jack still works is there is a connectivity issue. It's hard to say without seeing it. I'd recommend taking it apart and trying to fix it yourself (might just take some soldering) or taking it to a game store that offers console repairs and have them look at it.

How can I get the Wavebird Wireless controller to work with the Wii?

I just got the Wavebird controller and for some reason it's not working. Is anyone an expert with the controller. The little grey box that plugged in doesn't blink or anything. Should it? I've tried adjusting the channels on it.How can I get the Wavebird Wireless controller to work with the Wii?
It should not blink at all. The light should only appear on the controller. The two have to be on the correct channels (numbers). You choose them by adjusting the wheels on both of them.

However, it will only work with Gamecube games and certain Virtual Console games.

It will not work for Wii gamesHow can I get the Wavebird Wireless controller to work with the Wii?
I think you should plug those reciever things into the Gamecube controller slot and see if it works.
It should work -- make sure you have enough batteries in your wavebird.

I never had any problems with mine.
First, be sure you have the receiver end of the wavebird on the same channel as the wavebird. plug it into the wii, and the green reciever light should turn on when you turn on the wavebird. It only works for Virtual Console, and gamecube games.
What direction is the receiver pointing? The gamecube controller ports are on top of the Wii pointing up (were on front of gamecube facing the player). Try laying the Wii down so that the receiver is facing you as it may not be receiving the signal while pointing at the ceiling.
