How can I get the Wavebird Wireless controller to work with the Wii?

I just got the Wavebird controller and for some reason it's not working. Is anyone an expert with the controller. The little grey box that plugged in doesn't blink or anything. Should it? I've tried adjusting the channels on it.How can I get the Wavebird Wireless controller to work with the Wii?
It should not blink at all. The light should only appear on the controller. The two have to be on the correct channels (numbers). You choose them by adjusting the wheels on both of them.

However, it will only work with Gamecube games and certain Virtual Console games.

I think you should plug those reciever things into the Gamecube controller slot and see if it works.
It should work -- make sure you have enough batteries in your wavebird.

I never had any problems with mine.
First, be sure you have the receiver end of the wavebird on the same channel as the wavebird. plug it into the wii, and the green reciever light should turn on when you turn on the wavebird. It only works for Virtual Console, and gamecube games.
What direction is the receiver pointing? The gamecube controller ports are on top of the Wii pointing up (were on front of gamecube facing the player). Try laying the Wii down so that the receiver is facing you as it may not be receiving the signal while pointing at the ceiling.
